I hear from people every week who tell me how difficult it is getting through ANOTHER flare-up of their chronic illness. It gets tiring, frustrating, and scary when the rug keeps getting pulled out from underneath you.

When I get down, scared, and frustrated, I cry it out. It seems to help me unload/release my feelings, even if only for a little while. I also try to do something nice for myself, something that "fills me up." Doing that brings me some peace and I'm able to pick myself up and dust myself off and get back in the game, ONE MORE TIME.

What fills you up? What brings a smile to your face?

Re: One more time...

Life with a chronic illness is a roller coaster -- some highs, some lows, and everything in between. It is hard for anyone who does not walk in those shoes to fully understand how frustrating and scary it can be. Giving myself permission to live both the highs and the lows, crying and all, helps me to feel less frustration and anger. I turn those lows times into "take care of me" days and as sit outside and enjoy the sunshine or cuddle up with some hot tea, a good book, or a movie, peace and contentment replaces my frustration and anger.
