I try so hard to learn new things, like using technology. And, it’s not easy! Especially when it doesn’t work like it’s supposed to and I don’t understand why.

I was so excited on December 1, 2010, because we launched our new and improved www.MakingLifeEasier.com Website. It had taken months of work by lots of people (all of whom have chronic illnesses and/or disabilities.) But, after two weeks, I was horrified to see that my Website (traffic) statistics were ZERO. I couldn’t believe that NOBODY came to visit. I felt like Charlie Brown who had a party and nobody came.

We had worked so hard to build up our traffic to a respectable number, and now we had 0 visitors.  I knew there had to be at least a few people, but numbers don’t lie. I was embarrassed to tell the person who had helped us launch the site about the lack of visitors;

So, after a month I took a deep breath and admitted to my colleague that “my stats had gone down significantly.” (It was difficult to say NOT ONE PERSON has been to the site.) She looked into it and THANKFULLY, the counter was working but was not pointing to the correct address. There DEFINITELY were stats and I’d be happy with them.

It was another reminder that I shouldn’t jump to conclusions and assume that I did something wrong. I just have to ASK for help and clarification – something I would tell the children in my classroom when I was teaching and my own children as they were growing up.
