Winters in Wisconsin can get really, really long and I need ways to keep connected  to the world beyond ME. Thank goodness for the Internet. It's the only thing that's FLAT and at a reasonable temperature all year round. I'm not sidelined by hot weather, cold weather, inaccessible locations or architectual barriers, and anytime 24/7 I can write, surf, and connect with others.

Today, I started a Facebook group just for people like me who are Meeting Life's Challenges. I've learned so much on my journey living with a chronic illness (multiple sclerosis) and now I'd like to use what I've learned to help others. I plan to tell stories, share insights, and give voice to the realities of living with an unpredictable future. I am the eternal optimist and maybe my observations and experiences will be of interest to others. That to me would be a sure sign that spring is coming.

If you'd like to be part of my Meeting Life's Challenges Facebook group, just search on Shelley Peterman Schwarz and send me an invitation.

Re: Surfing in Winter???

My heart goes out to you. I urge you to reach out to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and/or the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America They are both excellent organizations providing support services and programs to help you, and your husband, cope with all the challenges you face. They also raise funds to provide funds for research into a cure for this difficult illness.

You may want to subscribe to our free E-zine to get a monthly "Peptalk" and encouragement to hang in there while we wait for that CURE.
