Jamie and her family just left for home and the house is way too quiet. Everything is put away and finger marks have disappeared from all the windows and doors. You’d never know that she was here with her husband and 3 preschool munchkins. After my husband, David, “tidied up,” he left for his office for an hour or two. So, I’m sitting at my desk in the deafening silence, downloading movies and pictures of our time with the kids.
As I waited for the camera finish, I looked across the room to my file cabinet and saw Jordan’s handy work from when we played school earlier this morning – several notes and papers kept in place by magnets she found.
The kids are so young. What memories will they have of me? Will they know how my whole body smiles when they are around? Will they know I’m happy just to watch them sleep? They may never know those things, but I’m trying to plant the seeds of happy memories of Grandma Shelley and her special Amigo™. Grandma’s legs may not work but she gave us rides on her “Magic Carpet.” And, if they don’t, remember, I’ll to show them this little movie.
